We start out our archive look-back in Escanaba today, with E. Neil Harri in the pilotís seat in 2007. What a grand view of the Harbor and Marina there at the end of Ludington Street. Itís always a different perspective from the air and sometimes hard to pinpoint places, but this one stands out pretty well.

Then in 2012, we join Jessica Gariepy on the Gay Road, checking out the budding green that takes place this time of year. It's amazing how quickly everything goes from leafless and gray, to green, once the weather warms up a little.

We tag along with Brenda Leigh in 2015, for a visit to the Au Sable Lighthouse located on the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It can also be accessed from the Hurricane River Campground, which is 12 miles west of Grand Marais on Alger Country Road H-58. From the day uese parking area there, it is a 1 Ĺ mile walk to the lighthouse on the U.S. Coast Guard historic road. Along the walk in, you'll find shipwreck remains on the beach below the trail, some that are exposed. There are signs directing you to the steps for beach access along the trail, so that you can check out the shipwrecks as you make your way to the Light Station.

Jonathan Katje was there at the same Lighthouse in 2013 and made a video of the grounds and surrounding waters. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the tour.

There was a somber, desolate beauty in that video.

Nice pic of the Escanaba Harbor and the pic of the Gay Road is nice, I do believe I know where that is. Alex, said it best about the video!!

For some reason I just love Escanaba. Swimming in
Lake Michigan always seemed so much warmer than
swimming in Lake Superior. Nothing can compare to
Superior, it is Superior after all, but it sure is
nice to swim in water that doesn't make your
ankles hurt, lol.
